Hello All,
We were recently written up by a shareware site partner and I thought this was worthy of posting...
Beyond Remote Support, Focus on Problem, Not on Getting to It

Updated Jan 11, 2008 11:45:02

Solving a tricky problem on a remote box is often not as hard as getting to that problem. Helping a newbie to obtain, install and run a remote assistance program sometimes may be harder than resolving the original problem. A remote assistance application has got to be something really easy, not harder than making just a few mouse clicks.

This idea was picked up by Data Apples Corp., and they came up with a brand new approach to rendering assistance to remote users. Instead of asking users to install complicated remote access programs, they will ask you, the service provider, to install a simple application on your desktop and then, believe it or not, just ask users to follow a link you send them via e-mail, instant messenger or your support website.

With this power at your disposal, you can bring your business to a whole new level. Just by reducing your travel time between customers’ sites, you can easily double or triple your productive hours. And your capability to render quality support for critical applications remotely will attract new customers that would prefer higher quality service to closer located less qualified service provider.

Your customers will value your services knowing that whatever should happen with their applications, you are literally just a click away. No more hours of wasted time, troubles messing with software or websites; just a few mouse clicks, and you get straight to the target.

- Added better support for multi-monitors

- Due to all of the confusion ReverseConnect introduced in to Beyond Remote we have decided to remove it from the Console. If you are a paid subscriber or are using the free functionality of ReverseConnect please download our new product Beyond Remote Support. This will allow you to perform the same email support while adding additional functionality.

Actually the modem says the firewall is disabled (it's passing everything to the router, which is acting as the firewall). I also have six wireless clients at home being supported by the router, as well as a Vonage TA, so can't just use an access point.

Ideally I would like to set up a PPTP and bring my dad's computer into our network. He is computer illiterate and I don't think I could talk him through setting up a VPN, assuming I could do it in the first place here (haven't researched it much yet.) If we can get BeyondRemote working, it would help set up the VPN too, I expect.
